I told the young man who mans his mother’s stall at the Farmers’ Market that I was going for his “Best Customer of the Year” award. “So — You gonna be back again next week?” he asked with a grin.
In the time span of a week, we bought two boxes/bushels of green beans and 30 lbs. of yellow squash. The green beans made 50 quart jars and the squash produced 25 quart bags for the freezer. Man — we were proud of our production line. We’ve got it down. If you come stay with us, the produce is stacked in the back bedroom, “hidden” (??) under a tablecloth, like no one will notice it there. Anyway, you wouldn’t starve, but there is simply not enough room in the pantry. Instead, I take a few jars out of the stack and put them on a pantry shelf for easy access.
Goodness, I shouldn’t divulge this information. If some one breaks into our house, I’m sure that will be the first place they’ll head — for our new treasure. Woe is I.
